Why shouldn’t I just use
a closet company?
Closet companies, seeing a demand, have placed their existing
closet lines (with slight variations) into the garage.
The problem is that the garage is not a home closet or
pantry. There are very specific needs and environmental
issues that need to be addressed when installing product
in the garage. First off, the weight capacity is
much more demanding; fertilizer bags, cinderblocks, compressors,
tools, car equipment, and dog food make up just a short
list of heavy/bulky items that are not fit for light duty
closet storage. Additionally, closets are
targets for moisture, dirt, and pests. That is why cabinets
designed solely for the garage are the only long term
solution that a customer should consider. The full
line of products carried by GT Custom Garages ™
have superior weight capacity and exposure durability.
What makes your cabinets different?
Our cabinets are the best in the business.
Starting with our material: we use 1” thick industrial
grade board on all of our horizontal stretches. The
wood is sealed with Thermalfused Melamine allowing for a
moisture resistant surface that is not only extremely durable,
but makes cleaning the surface a breeze. Each cabinet
has full backing with Edgelok™ design and oversized
confirmat screws insuring the integrity of the cabinet.
Many companies, including home improvement centers, use
either ½”- ¾”material that often
have exposed melamine, which is inadequate for protecting
the life of your shelving. GT Custom Garages ™
frequently removes and disposes these broken or warping
cabinets from the homes of customers who have previously
settled for a shop grade pressboard cabinet. All of
our cabinetry is equipped with stainless steel components,
handles, and adjustable shelf supports. Each door
is hung with 110 degree concealed Euro hinges which can
be adjusted tight to keep items secure and free of pests.
What options do I have with my
cabinets?
All cabinets have adjustable shelving inside the
units. Some customers may opt to convert their cabinet
into a wardrobe closet with hanging rods, freeing up space
inside the home for everyday clothes as opposed to seasonal
items. Also, a variety of our cabinets can be converted
into rolling units, allowing for even more versatility in
your garage or workspace. Our lower units also come with
full extension 100 lb drawers glides.
Do you set the cabinets on the
ground?
We never put our cabinets on the ground for a variety of
reasons. First, the garage is constantly exposed to
the environment and moisture. Raising the cabinets
off of the ground allows for better protection and provides
the customer the freedom to clean underneath the cabinets
with a broom or mop. Additionally, pests only hide
in areas free from light, and positioning cabinets off the
ground makes this a “no-hide” zone for all critters.
